German Topping (for German Chocolate Cake)

Ingredients
- 2 egg yolks
- 1/3 cup butter, cut in small pieces
- 2/3 cup whipping cream (heavy cream)
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup sweetened flaked coconut
- 1 cup chopped pecans
Recipe
- 1 in a medium saucepan, combine egg yolks, butter, whipping cream, and sugar.
- 2 whisk constantly over medium-high heat until mixture comes to a full boil.
- 3 remove from heat; stir in vanilla, coconut, and pecans.
- 4 let cool, then refrigerate until mixture is thickened.
- 5 layer between chocolate cake.
