Date Balls

Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 cup dates, pitted & cut up
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 1/2 cups rice krispies
- 1/2 cup nuts, finely chopped
- powdered sugar or shredded coconut or finely chopped nuts or cocoa, to roll the balls in
Recipe
- 1 in a large sauce pan, mix sugar, eggs, dates, salt, & butter.
- 2 cook over medium heat untill thick, stirring constantly. remove from heat. add vanilla, cereal and 1/2 cup chopped nuts. mix well, and allow to cool slightly. form into one inche balls and roll in you choice of powdered sugar, coconut, cocoa or nuts.
- 3 makes about 2 dozen.
- 4 these freeze well.
