Mounds Bars

Ingredients

- 3 eggs
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 tablespoons cocoa
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup walnuts (chopped)
- 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 1/2 cups coconut
- 2 cups chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup walnuts (chopped)
Recipe
- 1 set oven at 350°f
- 2 beat eggs into shortening. then add sugar, flour, cocoa, and salt. add vanilla and chopped nuts. bake in a lightly greased 9x13 pan for 25 minuets. do not over bake. remove from oven.
- 3 blend condensed milk and coconut and carefully spread on cake layer. bake again for 15 minuets.
- 4 remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips on the coconut layer. when the chips melt, then spread evenly over the top and add 1/2 cup of chopped nuts. cool and let chocolate topping get firm.
- 5 cut into squares. i live in a warm area, so i keep these bars in the fridge in a tightly sealed container.
