Mounds Bars

Total Time: 1 hr Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 40 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 24
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup walnuts (chopped)
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 1/2 cups coconut
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup walnuts (chopped)

Recipe

  • 1 set oven at 350°f
  • 2 beat eggs into shortening. then add sugar, flour, cocoa, and salt. add vanilla and chopped nuts. bake in a lightly greased 9x13 pan for 25 minuets. do not over bake. remove from oven.
  • 3 blend condensed milk and coconut and carefully spread on cake layer. bake again for 15 minuets.
  • 4 remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips on the coconut layer. when the chips melt, then spread evenly over the top and add 1/2 cup of chopped nuts. cool and let chocolate topping get firm.
  • 5 cut into squares. i live in a warm area, so i keep these bars in the fridge in a tightly sealed container.
