Indonesian Coconut Beef Balls

Ingredients

  • 1 small onion, minced
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1/4 teaspoon shrimp paste (terasi)
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup fresh shredded coconut
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 2 cups oil (for frying)

Recipe

  • 1 combine onion, garlic, shrimp paste, coriander, sugar, salt and black pepper in bowl, making sure shrimp paste is completely combined with remaining ingredients.
  • 2 add beef and coconut.
  • 3 knead well with hands.
  • 4 add eggs and mix thoroughly.
  • 5 shape into 1 inch balls.
  • 6 heat oil in wok.
  • 7 add balls to oil a few at a time and fry until medium brown and cooked throughout.
  • 8 remove.
  • 9 drain on paper towels.
  • 10 serve hot or at room temperature.
