Fruitcake Squares

Ingredients
- 6 tablespoons butter or 6 tablespoons margarine
- 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
- 1 cup shredded coconut
- 2 cups cut up mixed candied fruit
- 1 cup dates
- 1 cup nuts, coarsely chopped
- 1 (15 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (for dusting dates)
Recipe
- 1 melt butter in 15 1/2 x 10 11/2 x 1-inch jelly roll pan.
- 2 sprinkle on crumbs (tap sides of the pan to distribute evenly).
- 3 sprinkle on coconut .
- 4 distribute candied fruit as evenly as possible over coconut.
- 5 cut dates into a small amount of flour so they won't stick together (or use prechopped dates). distribute dates over candied fruit.
- 6 sprinkle on nuts.
- 7 press mixture lightly with hands to level it in pan.
- 8 pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over top.
- 9 bake in moderate oven at 350f for 25-30 minutes.
- 10 cool completely before cutting, remove from pan.
