Italian Cream Cake

Ingredients

- 1/2-1 cup butter
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 2 cups sugar
- 5 egg yolks, beaten
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup coconut
- 1 cup nuts, chopped
- 1 container cream cheese
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 lb powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon butter
Recipe
- 1 beat butter& shortening.
- 2 add sugar.
- 3 add yolks mix together.
- 4 add flour alternate with buttermilk& beat.
- 5 add vanilla.
- 6 fold in coconut, chopped nuts, fold in whites.
- 7 grease three 9 inch pans, bake at 350f degrees for 23-25 minutes .
- 8 -----icing----------.
- 9 put on top of the 3 layers.
- 10 do not put on sides.
- 11 top with nuts.
