Italian Cream Cake

Total Time: 45 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 25 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 1/2-1 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 5 egg yolks, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup coconut
  • 1 cup nuts, chopped
  • 1 container cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 lb powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon butter

Recipe

  • 1 beat butter& shortening.
  • 2 add sugar.
  • 3 add yolks mix together.
  • 4 add flour alternate with buttermilk& beat.
  • 5 add vanilla.
  • 6 fold in coconut, chopped nuts, fold in whites.
  • 7 grease three 9 inch pans, bake at 350f degrees for 23-25 minutes .
  • 8 -----icing----------.
  • 9 put on top of the 3 layers.
  • 10 do not put on sides.
  • 11 top with nuts.
