Governor Dalton's Favorite Coconut Bars

Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup angel flake coconut
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 eggs
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup pecans, chopped
Recipe
- 1 sift flour before measuring.
- 2 cream butter with ½ cup brown sugar.
- 3 add 1 cup flour. mix to crumbly mass.
- 4 pat it evenly into 9x9 well-greased pan. bake this pastry until delicately brown at 300°, 20 minute
- 5 remove from oven.
- 6 beat eggs until light.
- 7 add 1 cup brown sugar and vanilla.
- 8 mix well.
- 9 add 2 teaspoons flour which has been sifted with baking powder and salt.
- 10 add coconut and nuts.
- 11 spread over pastry and bake at 350°, 25 minute.
- 12 cool and cut into bars.
