Martha Washington Balls

Total Time: 2 hrs Preparation Time: 1 hr Cook Time: 1 hr

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 8 ounces sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 lbs confectioners' sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups pecans, finely chopped
  • 1 (24 ounce) package sweetened flaked coconut
  • 2 (24 ounce) packages semi-sweet chocolate chips

Recipe

  • 1 combine all ingredients except chocolate chips.
  • 2 refrigerate over night.
  • 3 shape coconut mixture into walnut-size balls.
  • 4 freeze until firm.
  • 5 melt chocolate chips in a double boiler.
  • 6 pierce balls with a tooth pick or wooden skewer, dip balls into chocolate.
  • 7 lay on wax paper.
  • 8 refrigerate until set.
  • 9 store in an airtight container.
  • 10 note: this recipe originally called for 1 block of paraffin wax melted in with the chocolate chips. i don't care for the wax, so i don't add it. it's just a personal preference.
