Luby's Cafeteria German Chocolate Pie

Total Time: 55 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 45 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons butter, melted (no substitutions)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk
  • 3/4 cup flaked coconut
  • 1/3 cup pecans, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (9 inch) pie crusts (either storebought or your own recipe)

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 375f (190 degrees c).
  • 2 in a large bowl combine the sugar, flour, cornstarch and cocoa.
  • 3 add water and melted butter; whisk until combined.
  • 4 add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each one.
  • 5 add the milk and beat until well blended.
  • 6 stir in the coconut, pecans and vanilla.
  • 7 pour batter into the pie shell.
  • 8 bake for 45 minutes or until firm.
