Macaroon Cake

Ingredients

- 6 eggs, separated
- 1 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup margarine
- 3 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 3 cups flour, unsifted
- 1 cup milk
- 8 ounces coconut flakes
Recipe
- 1 grease a 10-inch tube pan.
- 2 preheat oven to 300°f.
- 3 in a very large bowl, cream the shortening, margarine, and sugar until very fluffy and creamy.
- 4 add egg yolks and beat plenty more.
- 5 add almond extract.
- 6 blend in flour and milk alternately.
- 7 add coconut flakes.
- 8 beat egg whites until stiff and fold in gently but thoroughly.
- 9 bake for 2 hours.
- 10 cool in pan completely.
