Jean's Red Velvet Cake

Total Time: 52 mins Preparation Time: 12 mins Cook Time: 40 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 ounce red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups self rising flour
  • 1 teaspoon cocoa
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 1/2 cups sweet milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup plain flour, cook until thick, then add
  • 1 cup nuts
  • 1 cup coconut
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2 combine sugar, 1 cup vegetable oil, eggs, food coloring, and vanilla.
  • 3 mix well, then add self rising flour, cocoa, buttermilk and baking soda.
  • 4 mix well.
  • 5 pour into greased and floured cake pans.
  • 6 bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes.
  • 7 after cake has cooled some, spread icing over cake.
