German Chocolate Bars

Total Time: 55 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 40 mins

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup butter, softened
  • 1 package german chocolate cake mix
  • 1 (6 ounce) package semi-sweet chocolate chips (1 cup)
  • 1 container rich and creamy ready-to-spread coconut pecan frosting
  • 1/4 cup milk

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2 lightly grease bottom and sides of rectangular pan, 13x9x2 inches.
  • 3 cut butter into cake mix in medium bowl, using pastry blender or fork, until mixture looks like crumbs.
  • 4 press half of the mixture (2 1/2 cups) in the bottom of pan.
  • 5 bake 10 minutes.
  • 6 sprinkle chocolate chips over baked layer.
  • 7 drop frosting by tablespoonfuls over chocolate chips.
  • 8 stir milk into remaining cake mixture.
  • 9 drop by teaspoons onto frosting layer.
  • 10 bake 25 to 30 minutes or until cake portion is slightly dry to touch; cool completely.
  • 11 refrigerate until firm.
  • 12 for 48 bars, cut into 8 rows by 6 rows.
