Grammie Bea's Chocolate No-bake Cookies

Total Time: 20 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 24
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 1/2-3 cups quaker oats
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)
  • 1/2 cup flaked coconut (optional)
  • 1/2 cup raisins (optional)

Recipe

  • 1 mix the sugar, cocoa, butter, and milk in a med. saucepan, and heat over med. heat, stirring occasionally, until mixture comes to a boil.
  • 2 let mixture boil for 2 1/2 mins., then remove from heat.
  • 3 stir in the peanut butter, vanilla, and oats. if you are adding coconut and/or raisins, add at this time too.
  • 4 if it looks on the runny side and soft, add another 1/2 cup oats gradually, until desired thickness, and mix well.
  • 5 you don't want them to spread out too much when you drop them onto the wax paper.
  • 6 working quickly, drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper or aluminum foil.
  • 7 let cool.
  • 8 the serving size is approximate, as it depends on how big you make them.
