Nanaimo Bars

Ingredients

  • Servings: 24
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 cup flaked coconut
  • 1/2 cup unsalted peanuts or 1/2 cup walnuts, finely chopped
  • 1 (300 ml) can eagle brand sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 4 (1 ounce) semi-sweet chocolate baking squares

Recipe

  • 1 combine butter, cocoa, egg, crumbs, coconut, and peanuts. press evenly into bottom of a parchment paper-lined 9-inch square pan.
  • 2 combine eagle brand milk with peanut butter; cook and stir over medium heat until slightly thickened. remove from heat. spread over base.
  • 3 melt chocolate and drizzle or spread over eagle brand layer.
  • 4 chill 2 hours or until firm. store covered in the refrigerator.
  • 5 prep time does not include chilling time.
