German Chocolate Pie

Ingredients

- 4 ounces german chocolate
- 1/4 cup butter or 1/4 cup margarine
- 1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 unbaked 9-inch deep dish pie crust
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 1 1/3 cups flaked coconut
Recipe
- 1 in a sauce pan, melt chocolate and butter over low heat, stirring to mix well.
- 2 remove from the heat and gradually blend in milk; set aside.
- 3 in a bowl, combine sugar, cornstarch and salt.
- 4 stir in eggs and vanilla.
- 5 gradually stir in chocolate mixture.
- 6 pour into pastry shell.
- 7 combine pecans and coconut; sprinkle over filling.
- 8 bake at 375 degrees f.
- 9 for 45-50 minutes or until puffed and browned.
- 10 cool 4 hours.
- 11 chill (filling will become firm as it cools).
